Greetings Gordon.
Nice piece of kit you have but I'm pretty happy with the 150mm SkyWatcher job.
I think that the technicalities of proper imaging would detract from my juvenile "looking at things" activities.
Books and your website can do the piccies for me...thanks.
See you at the HSASTRO meeting if not before.

Cool website! I live not far from you in Fownhope. I have 10" lx200 and I'm thinking of getting a paramount, that's how I found your website. Your images prove that the mount is excellent.
Best wishes,

Gordon,
Just found your site through the Light Polluted Astrophotography Group in Yahoo. I just wanted to say that your site is very professional and I have been enjoying poring through your images and commentary. I'm new to astronomy but, like you, had an interest early in life (Apollo) but was not in a position to pursue it until now. I've just recently acquired a C9.25 and CGEM and am looking forward to using on some good skies when I get back from my assignment in China (25 days!). Please keep up the excellent work as I will be checking back to see and, I'm sure, admire your outstanding efforts. Cheers,
Gordon

This is a great website - very informative - I have many of the problems you have (light pollution etc) in South Wales. I like the way you show your early images, and how you have improved. I am following very much in your footsteps, although some way behind!

Hello Gordon, really enjoyed your very informative site. I read all of it. Something I don't usually do. Please keep up the good work so the rest of us can see how it should be. regards bob
This site is inspirational! I am taking my first footsteps in astronomy and astrophotography after having been a star and consellation gazer for many years. I think your "how to" and typical night sections are particularly insightful, given that as a beginner ... there are so many "unknown unknows!" Thanks for sharing.
Regards
Chris

One request, though; could you increase the type size for your guest book, please, and maybe choose a more contrasty color, please? So these old eyes can read the comments against your world-class pics.

Great page especially about the "Pointers". My father & I raised English points early on mostly for bird hunting. Later after being married we ended up with 2 different German Pointers and so began our experiences. They are both gone now but not forgot. We currently have a "Rat Terrier" who I affectionately call the Yard Boss.
I too life in what we called the Columbus Nebula here in central Ohio. I use mostly my TakE180 and am starting to move towards different filters. You might want to check out Hutech's V3 designed for Nebula's.
More later as I have a retired gent I have breakfast with on Sunday's.
Sincerely,
Doug Askew

Hi Rob
I agree with what your saying and since getting my BRC-250 up and running I have connected up the electronic FLI PDF focuser but I will continue to do all my imaging from outside as I like to be 'hands on' with my imaging so I wrap up warm with my down jacket and am still comfortable sat outside all night, hope you had a good time at Astrofest
Best wishes

Hi Gordon
We met at Astrofest today - you gave me a huge amount of useful info re- autoguiding etc.
Excellent site - I read you section 'night of imaging'. You mentioned that you had an electric focusser but prefer manual - surely with the electric item could you not achieve everything from the warmth of your lounge?
I have thought of acquiring en electric focusser but Simon put me off! I use a WO Crayford with a fine adjustment knob which, I have to say is excellent - however the thought of the remote-in-the-warmth control still tempts!
Best wishes.

I've just bought a Ylena 70mm astro camera and Meade LX200 8" for precisely these reasons.I am inspired by your photos.I will be using traditional camera equipment initially until I learn all the ins and outs of CCDs etc.All the best with the new upgrade!

Great site and fantastic setup. I'm looking at getting a TMB 115 APO and found your site while searhing for more information on it. Judging by the images you have taken with it I can see I wouldn't be disappointed with the optical quality! I'd really be interested to know how long the TMB takes to reach thermal equilibrium on average. I have a 6" Maksutov Cassegrain at the moment and although it is a very good scope it does take a long time to cool down (3 hours or more). This has served to prevent me from using it on many occassions as I don't have an observatory. Anyway, keep up the good work and clear skies!

Hi. Gordon, I've just come from posting my comments on you PacMan Image on SGL, and I congratulate you on a very good website.
I love your setup, and other equipment. Very nice indeed.
I enjoyed it very much. Good Luck

Nice set-up Gordon!! Your images are excellent considering how much light pollution you have to deal with. Keep at it and please post more images at the Astromart forums.
Glad to see someone got their priorities right (Pushed boat out for mount LOL!) Good work mate.
hi Gordon,
congrats on a nice website weith lots of information!
very best regards from your fellow-TMB owner from Austria,

Promised myself an astro scope when I retired, so just bought a Meade Lightbridge 10 inch.
No use for imaging, but what a view! Its a start, and your site has given me lots of food for thought.
I'm a visual observer mostly, but share an observatory with two other guy's that do Astrophotography. We have a 10" compound telescope and an 80mm APO. But it has been too cloudy to do much this winter here in Wisconsin.
Ron.
PS enjoyed the jokes section thanks!
